Saturday, June 20th is the Summer Solstice event at the Nichols Community Center (NCC). The action starts at 4 PM with outdoor activities, food, and the music beginning at 6 PM. We have information booths for emergency preparation AND, the Fire Department will be there to answer any questions and help you sign up for their home visits to fireproof your home in the case of a wildfire.
Here we are with great weather that is lasting longer than forecast. What does that mean?
Last year we had sunny weather from mid-May through mid October and we lost a lot of trees from the lack of rain through that period. This current weather with its high pressure dome is reminiscent of last year and another dry Spring and summer will make us vulnerable to wildfires. What can we do to prepare for a super dry spring and summer?
